This is a fully remote position , open to candidates based in United States.

Pay: $25–$40/hr

Role Title: Medical Coder

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

We are engaging Medical Coders to contribute their expertise to a dynamic project for a valued customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

1. Annotate and review medical records, ensuring accurate assignment of ICD-10 and CPT codes based on documentation.
2. Apply Evaluation & Management (E&M) leveling using official guidelines to validate and enrich datasets.
3. Leverage up-to-date coding reference materials to maintain compliance with current coding standards.
4. Collaborate with project stakeholders via written and verbal communication to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities in clinical documentation.
5. Provide high-quality feedback on coding guidelines and edge cases to improve project workflows and model understanding.
6. Contribute domain expertise to the creation and validation of medical code datasets for AI training purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is required.
2. Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems and E&M leveling guidelines.
3. Experience with diverse clinical documentation types and associated coding challenges.
4. Proficiency with both written and verbal communication, with a strong attention to clarity and detail.
5. Access to up-to-date official ICD-10 and CPT coding books, as well as E&M guidelines.
6. Familiarity with digital annotation tools or experience participating in data-driven projects (nice to have).
7. Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous learning in a fast-evolving healthcare and technology environment.
